The couple met through a friend in common and even though Vinicio was heart broken by an old relationship, he was very persistent with Mario! It took him 3 months to win his trust and heart... and since that moment, they started living together.

Like many other LGBTQ+ couples, "Marito" (as I call him) is always happy, very social and loves parties! And "Vini" is more calm, can stay at a peaceful spot reading or listening music for hours and loves cooking for others (while Marito entertains them!)...

As a couple, both share the philosophy of not looking back... they are friends, partners, confidents and an give unconditional support to each other.  Both enjoy the family they have built together and with laughs, Marito and Vini agree that love is their  everyday motivation.

For them, being a gay couple in Costa Rica, like many others, one of the biggest challenge has been overcoming the family´s negativity from one side, related to the acceptance that their son is gay and by that, avoiding to share some family time with the couple.

For Mario and Vinicio, May 26th was a day to celebrate their rights and as they recall "it takes a big worry away to know that we can defend our union as any other couple in the country!"
